Terms of Service

Effective August 24, 2026

Plain terms for a simple service: you write a letter, we print it and hand it to the post.

1 · What CherryMail does

You write a letter in CherryMail. We render it onto a single sheet of letter stock, seal it in a windowless envelope with a real stamp, and hand it to the United States Postal Service through our printing and mailing partner.

We are not a courier and we do not control the post. Once a letter is handed over, the delivery time — and whether it arrives at all — is the postal service's. We currently mail to United States addresses only.

2 · Your account

There are no passwords. You start as a guest. An account is created the moment you verify a six-digit code we email you — which happens in the composer, just before your first letter is sealed — and it exists from then on whether or not you go on to send that letter. Afterwards you sign in the same way.

Anyone who can read your email can sign in as you, so keep that mailbox secure. You are responsible for what is sent from your account.

3 · What you write

Your letters are yours. By sealing one you give us the limited permission we need to render, print, envelope and mail it, and to store it so you and your correspondent can read it in the app afterwards.

A sealed letter cannot be edited or recalled. It becomes a physical object in someone else's mail, and the copy kept in the app is deliberately immutable history — later edits to a contact never rewrite what was printed.

Letters are limited to what fits on one sheet, printed on one or both sides.

4 · Addresses and the reply code

You must have a legitimate reason to mail someone at the address you enter, and the return address you give must be one you are entitled to use.

Every letter we print carries a small QR code linking to a reply page. Anyone physically holding that letter can use it to write back to the return address printed on it. Please take that into account before printing a home address.

5 · Payment

Sending a letter costs $2, which covers printing, the envelope and postage. Payment is taken when you seal the letter, before anything is printed. Checkout is handled by Stripe; we never see or hold your card details.

If we take your payment and then fail to hand the letter to the postal service, we refund it. Once a letter has been posted we cannot recall it, so we cannot refund it — including when the post loses or delays it. Tell us anyway and we will do what we reasonably can.

6 · Acceptable use

Do not use CherryMail to send anything unlawful, threatening, harassing or deceptive, to impersonate someone, or to send bulk or commercial mail. CherryMail is for personal correspondence.

We may refuse or cancel a send that appears to breach this, and we will refund a send we refuse before it is posted.

7 · Availability and changes

CherryMail is an early product. We do not promise uptime, and we may change or discontinue features — including the service itself — at any time. If we discontinue it, we will not charge you for letters we cannot send.

8 · Disclaimers and liability

CherryMail is provided as is, without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows.

To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us for the letters the claim concerns. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

9 · Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The effective date at the top of this page tells you when they last changed, and continuing to use CherryMail after a change means you accept the updated terms.
